Feeding the Kangaroo - Sketchabilities #105

A  new sketch is up at Sketchabilities and this is my take on this awesome sketch, designed by Karan. Here's sketch #105:

The photo is of my youngest, feeding a kangaroo at the Australian Zoo we have in Israel.

I used papers from Making Memories, Kaisercraft and DCWV. For the matting, I used a small paper bag. The embellishments are Echo Park stickers (Beautiful Life collection), Purple Pumpkin's flair button, Webster's Pages chipboard buttons, some embroidery threads and a wooden kangaroo from my stash.

For the background I used Studio Calico's triangles mask with TH distress ink and some stamping and heat embossing of Hero Arts text stamp.

My inspiration for the colors was palette #165 at The Color Room:

I would like to enter it to the contest at Paper Issues, for the zoo theme.

אמצע החודש וזה הזמן לסקיצה חדשה ב-Sketchabilities. אני מאד אוהבת את הסגנון הזה של סקיצות, עם דפים מדוגמים לאורך ותמונה רוחבית, עם קישוטים מהצדדים.  התמונה בדף היא של צעיר הבנים, בביקור שלנו בגן גורו לפני למעלה משנה וחצי. הוא כל כך נהנה להאכיל את הקנגרו מכף ידו :-).

ליצירת הרקע השתמשתי במסיכה של סטודיו קאליקו עם דיו דיסטרס ובהחתמה ואמבוסינג של חותמת כיתוב. הדפים הם ערבוב של חברות שונות - קייזרקראפט, DCWV, MM. הקישוטים כוללים סטיקרים של Echo Park, כפתורי צ'יפבורד של וובססטר'ס וכפתור  מתכת של Purple Pumpkin (ממש לאחרונה זכיתי אצלם בפרס... מחכה שיגיע כבר בדואר). הוספתי גם כמה חוטי רקמה מפוזרים באופן אקראי. את הקנגרו מעץ צבעתי בקצוות עם שני גוונים של דיו דיסטרס, ואת הגוף עם גוון אחר, וכמאטינג לתמונה השתמשתי בשקית נייר קטנה.

A {mase} ing - Stuck?! Dec. 15th reveal

Another fab sketch by Laura is up at Stuck?!:

The photo is of my youngest, trying to find his way in a big maze at the Australian Zoo.

For my page I used Simple Stories products, from Smarty Pants collection. I painted some gesso on the background paper and used a red ink with TCW stars mask.

עם הסקיצה החדשה שעולה היום ב-Stuck?! התפרעתי לגמרי (יחסית...). השתמשתי בדפים וקישוטים של Simple Stories מקולקציה שנקראת Smarty Pants. יש לקולקציה הזאת צבעים חזקים מאד. אתן יכולות לראות באיקס מיקס את הפד של 15X15 של הקולקציה הזאת.

על הדף הכהה (אגב, במציאות הוא כחול כהה ולא שחור כמו שנראה בתמונה) מרחתי ג'סו בכיוונים שונים, אח"כ עבדתי עם דיו אדום על מסיכה של כוכבים. הוספתי דפי 6X8, בראדים וסטיקרים מאותה קולקציה, וואשי טייפ וחיתוך של עץ מתבנית בה התחדשתי לאחרונה.

יצא דף עליז וצבעוני, בדיוק כמו התמונה של צעיר הבנים שמחפש את דרכו באחד מהמבוכים שיש בגן גורו (מי שטרם ביקרה במקום - מומלץ ביותר!).

תודה שקפצתן לבקר. תודה לכל אלו שטרחו והשאירו תגובות לפוסטים הקודמים, זה בהחלט מחמם את הלב כשאתן משאירות איזה סימן שביקרתן כאן.

ובאווירה של חמימות - מאחלת לכל מי שעדיין סובל מנזקי מזג האוויר (אנחנו עדיין נצורים בבית...), שזה יחלוף במהרה ונחזור לשגרה.

at CSI case file #101

Being at home for the past 3.5 days, there's a lot of scrappy time, isn't it? :-) 

So I was able to play with the new CSI case file, with a very beautiful palette. Here's case file #101 from CSI:

The photo is of my eldest, about 1.5 years ago. It's scarry how skinny he is... He was always a skinny boy. For my journaling (hidden tag with the star above to pull it), I chose to describe how thin he was born and how slowly he climbed on his growth chart. I also scanned his growth chart and put it inside the vellum envelope I've made.

My clues to solve the case were:

Scheme - all colors are here (loved this color palette!).

Evidence - frames, circles, something trasparent.

Testimony - framed my journaling tag, used a cursive handwriting, and wrote 5 unimportant but interesting facts about the photo and the subject and 2 very important facts. My journaling says:

"1. Your weight when you were born was 2.750 kg, and when we went out of hospital you weight 2.550 kg.

2. You gained weight very very slowly.

3. For a very long time you were on the lowest part of the growth chart.

4. I've had problems with breastfeeding and stopped after 1 month.

5. I was so sad when I had to stop breastfeeding you.

But, which is the most important thing, you are - healthy and lively!"

For my background I used TCW stencil with TH distress ink (black soot). Then apllied gesso with SC stencil. I used Mr. Huey's  mists and blew on them with a straw. I used some Echo Park papers and a scrap from October Afternoon dp. The stars and film strip were cut with my Big Shot. The doilies stickers are My Mind's Eye. I also added Purple Pumpkin's flair and fabric buttons. The alphas are lilybee desing.
I would like to enter it to the contest at Paper Issues, for the summer theme.

בזכות סערת השלג שגרמה לנו להיות נצורים, הספקתי לשחק עם כמה אתגרים וזו התוצאה. דף גברי על הבן הבכור שלי, שהוא רזה ודקיק. הכיתוב בתג הנסתר מתעד את משקל הלידה שלו, את העובדה שהוא עלה במשקל לאט מאד והיה באחוזון הנמוך בעקומת הגדילה. אבל הכי חשוב - הוא בריא ומלא חיים :-) (ורק חושבים שאני מרעיבה אותו...).
את הדף הזה אני מכניסה גם לאתגר של 'יוצאות מהקווים', שביקשו 'לשים קשים'. על כתמי הצבע של המיסטים נשפתי עם קש שתיה, כדי ליצור את האפקט של ההשפרצה.

2012-Our Moments mini (mega) album - Jillibean Soup

I know, I know... we're at the end of 2013, and only now I finally got to finish my 2012 mini (mega) album. I hope I'll improve next year... LOL

This mini album is really a mega one. I stopped counting how many photos got into it. It has lots of pockets, mini mini albums, tags, journaling - really jam packed with memories to preserve.

For this mini album I used Jillibean Soup papers and stickers, mostly from Country Pumpkin Chowder collection, and some from other JBS' collections.

I really loved making it, and my insight, and perhaps a resolution for early next year, is to start working on 2013 mini album right away (and make the basis for 2014 mini album too...).

It took me a very long time to finish this project. While working on it, the kids started looking at the mini album, read my journaling, etc. I've learned that my kids really love to browwse the mini albums, and it is amazing how it preserves their memories from events we've had only months ago.

So without further ado, here are the photos:

אמנם אנחנו בסיומה של שנת 2013, אבל רק עכשיו הגעתי לסיים מיני (מגה) אלבום של שנת 2012. המיני הזה הוא ענקי - יש בו המון כיסים, תגיות, ג'ורנלינג, מקום לתמונות נוספות וכיוצ"ב. פרוייקט קצת אימתני, ולכן גם לקח לי מלללללללללללא זמן להשלים אותו.

תובנות:

1. להתחיל לעבוד על מיני אלבום 2013 כבר עכשיו, או לכל המאוחר בראשית 2014.

2. להכין כבר את השלד והבסיס למיני אלבום 2014.

3. אולי לעבור לסמאש? או project life? שווה מחשבה מעמיקה בעניין.

מאחר שהכנת המיני הזה התמשכה זמן רב, הילדים כבר החלו לדפדף באלבום. הם מאד נהנים לדפדף במיני אלבומים ולחזור ולקרוא על החוויות השונות שלנו. אני כותבת הרבה יותר ג'ורנלינג במיני אלבומים, כך שהדרך הזאת באמת משמרת את הזכרונות שלנו.

תודה שקפצתן לבקר ולהסתכל בתוצרת החדשה. אשמח מאד אם גם תשאירו עקבות לביקורכן. שוב אני פונה לכל הקוראות האלמוניות, שמתמידות לבקר אך נשארות שקטות כל כך - זה מאד כיף לקרוא תגובות, אז קדימה, לא להתבייש... די מדהים הפער בין כמות הכניסות לרשומה לבין התגובות שמשאירים... חומר למחשבה.

Mixed Media Layout step by step - how I did it

Mixed media is a hot trend in scrapbooking these days. I don't think I'm an expert or anything like that. I feel I'm making my first steps in this style, but I thought it can be fun to share my creative process of this lo I've made for #104 sketch at Sketchabilties. 

I hope you enjoyed watching how I did this lo and I hope it will inspire you to try some mixed media on your creations. I would love to read your comments.
