It's my 1st layout for the 2nd term on Sketchabilities, with Feb 14th reveal.

Here's the gorgeous sketch by the talented Karan:

Due to a short month, you have untill Feb 26th to upload your layout based on this sketch. And we have a wonderful sponsor for Feb sketches - Class Act Inc.
Since it's Valentine's Day, my layout is all about love, this time my love for my eldest, who is almost 12 years old.

I used my Feb Counterfeit Kit for this layout, which was made in the mixed media style - gesso, mists, builder's net, stamping, masking, heat embossing, paint splatters, some perfect pearls, etc.

It also goes for the 'Love' challenge at Chic Tags blog and for the 'tic-tac-love challenge at Anyting but a card (I took bling (buttons and pearls), heart, spray/mists). I would also like to add it to the new challenge blog, Craft Hoarders Anonymous, which asked for a project that describe your style. Well, my style evolve and changes all the time.. right now I love playing with the mixed media style, but you can always count on many layeres in my layouts. I used lots of hoarded supplies, cause I used my Counterfeit Kit, and the whole concept of CKC is to use your hoarded supplies!

I was very honored when Debbi,  from CSI asked me to be a Special Agent (i.e. Guest Designer) for November.

Here's case file #96:

My 'clues' to solve the case were: 

Scheme - all 5 colors.

Evidence - mesh, typewriter font, clocks, something transparent (vellum), flowers, rhinestones, gold metal (gold gliiter on the embossed wheathered clock), frames and paint.

Testimony - document a favorite room in your home. journaling on the hidden tag behind the photo and I wrote: "Satureday morning and after breakfast and playing with me, you set on the soffa in the living room and read together the 1st book of Harry Potter's series. Magical moments to cherish and to remember."

I used papers from Echo Park, Simple Stories & Fancy Pants; homemade chalkboard tags, TH die, ChheryLynn Designs die, flowers from my stash, rhinestones (KaiserCraft), baker's twine, Mr. Huey's mist and sequins.
I would like to enter it to the tag it challenge at Frosted Designs.

הוזמנתי להיות מעצבת אורחת לחודש נובמבר ב-CSI ומאד הוחמאתי. יש שם מעצבות מוכשרות ביותר, וזה לא סוד שהאתר הזה הוא אחד החביבים עלי ביותר. האתגרים שם, עם שילוב של צבעים, נושאי השראה ואלמנטים - מאד ממריצים את היצירתיות ו'מאלצים' אותי לחשוב מחוץ לקופסא, וכך להתנסות בעיצובים שאינם בדרך השגרה שלי.

כל החודש הנושא המוביל הוא "בית", אבל כמובן שאין הכרח להיצמד דווקא לנושא הזה, כל עוד עונים על מרכיבי האתגר.

התמונה שבדף צולמה באחת משבתות החורף שעבר, לפני שנה. אחרי ארוחת הבוקר וטורניר השש-בש המסורתי שלנו, הבנים התיישבו על הספה בסלון, והבכור הקריא לצעיר הבנים מהספר הראשון בסדרת הארי פוטר. אלו היו רגעים מקסימים, לנצור ולזכור.

כהרגלי - הדף הוא עתיר שכבות. גם כשאני חושבת שהנחתי כמות מספקת של שכבות, כמעט תמיד מתגנבת לה עוד חתיכת נייר מדוגם לשכבה נוספת.

פלטת הצבעים פשוט צעקה לי "24/7" של Simple Stories, הוספתי לדפי הסטאק גם דפים בדיגום של נקודות ופסי אלכסון של Echo Park וגם מסגרת צהובה, אף היא של Echo Park מקולקציה שהתלהבתי ממנה מאד בזמנו (ועדיין נותרו לי דפים מהקולקציה הזו).

חתכתי עם הביג שוט שעון גדול, והוא נצבע בג'סו ואח"כ עבר אמבוסינג עם אבקת אמבוסינג קראקל. כדי לתת אפקט מנצנץ, מרחתי אח"כ גם קצת גליטר זהוב. שעון הכיס הוא חותמת וכך גם הכותרת. פרחים (הפעם קנויים ולא תוצרת עצמית), סלסולי עלים בביג שוט, אבני חן והקישוט הטרנדי המתבקש - פאייטים.

אני אוהבת את השימוש בוולום. הוא מעמעם צבעים ודגמים חזקים, ומרכך את העיצוב.

ובנוסף, גם השפרצתי קצת ממר יואי אדום. ככה בקטנה, בשביל האפקט הדרמטי.

For my take, I slightly moved the photo with it's background to the side, but otherwise kept my lo very close to the origin sketch.

The photo is of my elsdest, about 1.5 year ago, when he was 10.

I used Basic Grey kraft cs. Distress stain, Mr. Huey's white mist and embossed stamping (TH stamp) were used for the background.  For the matting, I used some Echo Park pp, cork scraps and red corrugated paper. My embellies include homemade blackboard style tags, stars (die-cut, punched, stickers and  a Purple Pumpkin's flair button).

דף שהכנתי כחלק מצוות העיצוב ב-Sketchabilities. הזזתי את התמונה והרקע שלה מהמרכז לצד, כדי להתאים את העיצוב לתמונה ולשמור על איזון בין המרכיבים. כרקע השפרצתי מר יואי לבן והחתמתי עם דיו אמבוסינג חותמת עיגולים והבלטתי עם אבקת אמבוזינג לבנה. כרקע לתמונה צבעתי עם צבע דיסטרס והוספתי גם כמה תגיות סטייל לוח גיר שהכנתי בעצמי. להשלמת העיצוב, הוספתי קישוטי כוכבים מסוגים שונים - סטיקרים, תבנית חיתוך, פאנצ'ים וכפתור פלייר.

התמונה היא של הבכור, בטיול בנחל עיון לפני כשנה וחצי, כשהיה בן 10.

אז מה דעתכן על הסקיצה והפרשנות שלי? אשמח לקרוא תגובות וגם לראות השתתפות ישראלית באתגר הסקיצה.

Patience

My take on case file #88 at CSI, plus sketch #98 at Sketchabilities and Sept challenge at Inkido (layers plus border punch/die).  

The photo is of my youngest, about 1.5 year ago, sitting and waiting for all of us to continue with our trip. He was not so please about how much time it takes for us to start moving again. actually he was impatient... LOL Well, patience is a lesson yet to be learned.

My clues to solve the case were:

Scheme - I used all 5 colors.

Evidence - floral pattern, clocks, using a pen, frames.

Testimony - I used bullet point for my journaling, which states 4 ways to gain some patience: take a deep breath, count to 10, belive you don't miss anything, think about something else. I might say it's a lesson I learned myself through life. I guess the apple did  not fall far from the tree... LOL on the side of the page, I also documented a little conversation we had lately: "I told you to be less jumpy, you smiled to me and said: 'But Mummy, it's my personality'. So true and so wise. September 2013.".

For my borders I used two EK border punches, MS border punch and CheeryLynn's border die. my page is a multi-layers one. I really loved this sketch. I think I've done at least two layout in the past with similar design.

The clock die cut was embossed with distress crackle embossing powder, and then I added touches of Perfect Pearl, which gave a shiny look to the clock.

דף ל-3 אתגרים: סקיצה, השראה ואלמנטים. הסקיצה הזאת היא בעיצוב שהוא אחד האהובים עלי ביותר. נדמה לי שעשיתי כבר לפחות 2 דפים בעבר בעיצוב מאד דומה.

התמונה היא של צעיר הבנים, עומד חסר סבלנות ומחכה לנו שנואיל ברוב טובנו לשוב ולצעוד במסלול בטיול. כתבתי כמה עצות כדי לעזור במציאת הסבלנות החמקמקה (מכירים את השיר: "סבלנות, סבלנות, לא קונים באף חנות"?).

לבורדרים בדף השתמשתי ב-3 בורדר פאנצ'ים ובתבנית חיתוך אחת. בנוסף, השתמשתי בתבנית חיתוך לשעון.  שעון עץ של פרימ והרבה פרחים, גם כן של פרימה, שערמתי זה על גבי זה והוספתי 'אבקנים' במרכזם. כמה נגיעות של סיבי תחבושת ובראדים בתגית להשלמת הקישוטים.

Which Way? bold and graphic for me :)

When I saw the mood board at Scrap Around The World, I thought it was so challenging that I can't deal with it... then I came back again, and again, and again. And finally I knew what I want to do with this challenge - go bold, go graphic, go 'wild' (i.e. out of my comfort zone), go on contrasts.

Here's the mood board:

I used September's sketch from Artful Delight, cause I loved the simple graphic design:

Mainly, I was inspired by the contrasts and the black color, but I didn't want to go for b/w design. I rarely use black cs as basis for my layouts, so my first choise was to use a black one here.  Then I wanted to contrast the black with vivid colors, and primary colors (red, yellow & blue) were a good option. I also used two handmade chalkboard style tags.

I took a photo of my eldest, wondering which way he should take to solve a maze - should he go to the blue square? should he go to the red one?

I used CW chicken wire stencil with embossing powder, and then another CW circle stencil with texture modeling paste and sprayed it with Mr. Huey's red mist. I used pp from Echo Park and Simple Stories, die-cut stars and sequins.

I enjoyed making this lo very much and might try this concept again.

יש לפעמים אתגרים שגורמים לי לצאת מהקופסא, להתמודד עם עיצובים לא שגרתיים עבורי. כזה היה האתגר הפעם. לוח השראה מאד מיוחד ובעל אימפקט חזק. בהתחלה נרתעתי, אבל כשחזרתי שוב ושוב, התבשל הקונספט לדף הזה. החלטתי להשתמש בקארדסטוק שחור כבסיס, דבר שאני כמעט ולא עושה אף פעם. הניגוד המתבקש לשחור הוא לבן, אבל לא רציתי ללכת על הכיוון הזה, ולכן בחרתי בניגודיות צבעונית, על בסיס צבעי היסוד.

עבדתי עם שתי מסיכות שונות, עם אחת עבדתי עם דיו אמבוסינג ואבקת אמבוסינג, ועם השניה השתמשתי במשחת עיצוב חולית ואח"כ השפרצתי מר יואי אדום. השתמשתי בדפים מדוגמים של Echo Park ו-Simple Stories. קישוטים של חיתוכי כוכבים והקישוט הטרנדי האחרון - פאייטים. כן, פאייטים הפכו להיות להיט היסטרי בעולם הסקראפ. מה שגרם לי להודות על כך שלא זרקתי חבילת ענק של פאייטים ששכבה מיותמת בארון שלי.... קישוט פשוט וזול, שמוסיף הרבה.

התמונה היא של הבכור, מנסה להחליט באיזו דרך עליו לבחור כדי לפתור את המבוך בגן גורו.

אז מה דעתכן על הסגנון הזה? אני נהניתי להכין.
