October Afternoon recycled mini album

I've made a mini chunky album, with some October Afternoon old leftovers. it was given to the sweet young lady, who take care of my boys, and I left it untitled, as I didn't know what photos she'll add.

This is a recycled project. the cover was built from cereal package and the basis for the inside papers  are actually toilet paper rolls. I even used the cover of the 8X8 paper pad for the cover of the mini, so nothing was wasted :).

It has 6 inside pages, and on the inside of each cover I adhered a small evnvelope. each page has a pocket, and inside there's a mini semi book, where you can put 4 photos, or less, and add journaling. this mini album can contain more than 50 small photos!

A year in review - mini albums and altered projects

It is almost the end of 2012, and it's time to make some scrappy review. This time about mini albums and cards I've made this year (for more close-ups, you can click on the title of each photo, to see the full post about the specific project).

I've made only 4 mini albums this year, so I'll show you all of them:

This lo was made on a pre-cut chipboards and the binding was done simply with a metal ring.

Once again, I've made by myself this album from start to end. It has many openings, tags, etc. I also did the binding by myself, and I think this mini is the best I've made ever, concerning the binding. I hope next year to improve my skills in binding mini albums.

לקחתי קופסא שהביא אחד מהילדודס מקייטנת הקיץ והפכתי אותה לקופסת מתנה. ניירות מדוגמים, סרט ענקי בקשר מהודר, החתמה שנחתכה בעדינות עם הסכין של פרימה, ופרח מבד לבד שהוכן בעזרתו של ידידי החדש - הביג שוט. יצאה קופסא מאד נשית ומהודרת. עכשיו צריך למלא אותה בגודי'ס...

Adorable (photo inspiration)

The #2 challenge at Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog is a photo inspiration one. You should pick a fall foliage photo (either yours or from the web) and make a project inspired by this photo. You should also share the inspiration photo on your post.

Here's  my layout, with a photo of my youngest a year ago. 

Here in Israel our fall has less bold colors than in Europe or USA, but from time to time you can see those beautiful colors. That was the case on our trip. The trees had that range of colors, from olive green to red, through yellow and orange. It was so beautiful!

Love those beautiful leaves with their fall colors. Not only I was inspired by the colors, but also used fabric leaves, quite similar in their look, as embellishments.

Since my boy was wearing a blue shirt, I added verious shades of blue to my layout. I love this combination of fall colors with blue/teal.

האתגר השני בבלוג של קיט החיקוי הוא לבחור תמונה של עלי שלכת (תמונה שאתן צילמתן או מהרשת), ולהשתמש בה כהשראה לפרוייקט שלכן.

כידוע השלכת בישראל צבעיה פחות עזים מאלו של ארצות ניכר, אך מידי פעם בפעם, אפשר לראות גם שלכת מרהיבה בארצנו הקטנטונת, וכזאת הייתה השלכת בחרבת עתרי לפני שנה. חרבת עתרי, כשמה כן היא - חורבה, והיא נמצאת על גבעה חשופה בשפלת יהודה. גם עצים בקושי יש שם. אבל היה שם מקבץ של עצים עם שלהבת של שלכת. הצבעים על העצים נעו בקשת מרהיבה בין ירוק זית לאדום, כשבתווך גם צהוב וכתום.

מרבית החומרים שבהם השתמשתי הם מקיט החיקוי ומקיט התוספת. מיחזרתי גם אריזה של אותיות 'תוצרת הארץ' :).  כל הדפים המדוגמים הם שאריות של פרוייקטים קודמים. מראה הזיגזגים הכל כך טרנדי לא פסח גם על הדף הזה - הכנתי שתי רצועות של זיגזגים כתומים ובשני קצוות הדף הדבקתי וואשי טייפ מדוגם עם זיגזגים (במקור אלו זיגזגים כחולים על רקע צהבהב, אבל בגלל השקיפות של הוואשי, הרקע נהפך כתום כדף הבסיס עליו הדבקתי הכל.

תמונת ההשראה היא של עלי שלכת, שגווניהם נעים בקשת שישנה גם בתמונה. בהשראת התמונה, השתמשתי גם בעלים מבד שדומים בצורה ובצבעים. מאחר שצעיר הבנים לבוש בתמונה בחולצה כחולה, הוספתי לגווני השלכת של הדף גם גוונים כחולים. השילוב של גווני הכחול למיניהם עם צבעי השלכת מאד יפה בעיני (ממש כמו בטבע,  לא?).

T-REX

For challenge #3 at Counterfeit Kit challenge blog, we were asked to use negatives. I used some star shape negative cuts. Some of them I adhered to another dp and cut it once again, and some were left just with the frame shape, so the underneath papers will show.

I used September 14th sketch from Boys Rule,  (I really love Jenny Evans' sketches)  I only flipped it to the side:

I mixed papers from my current counterfeit kit and some scraps from previous counterfeit kits. I also used a recycled cloth tag (the big pale blue star) and my homemade errows mask.

The photo is of my boys at the Dinosaurs Age display. My youngest LOVES dinosaurs, and he knows all to them by their names and the period they lived. He was thrilled to be at that display (and he was over the moon at the end of our tour, cause we went to the chocolate bar, where he had too much chocolate...).

האתגר השלישי החודש בבלוג של קיט החיקוי הוא להשתמש בנגטיבים. השתמשתי בנגטיבים שנוצרו לי מחיתוך של כוכבים. את חלקם הדבקתי על נייר מדוגם וחתכתי, וחלקם השארתי רק עם המסגרת, כך שהשכבות שמתחת נשקפות מתוך ה"כוכב".

הכוכב בצבע תכלת הגדול הוא מיחזור של תגית בגד והשתמשתי גם במסיכה שהכנתי בעצמי בצורת חיצים.

אש קטנה ואני איתגרנו את עצמנו בשימוש משותף באותה סקיצה, תוך סיבוב שלה על צידה. תקפצו לראות את הפרשנות המקסימה שלה לסקיצה. אני תמיד נהנית לראות איך פרשנויות שונות ניתנו לאותה סקיצה בדיוק. נפלאות היצירתיות.

התמונה היא של הבנים בתערוכה של עידן הדינוזאורים שהייתה בנמל ת"א בקיץ. צעיר הבנים מאד אוהב דינוזאורים ויכול לנקוב בשמות כל אחד ואחד  מהם, תוך ציון התקופה בה חי... הוא היה נרגש ביותר בתערוכה. שמחתו קיפצה לשחקים כאשר בסיום הביקור בתערוכה קינחנו לנו בשוקולד בר של מקס ברנר, שם הוא זלל יותר מידי שוקולד...

case file #37 at CSI

This is my take on Case file #37 at CSI plus Once Upon A... Sketch challenges:

I think my biggest challenge was to work the 'girly' sketch into a boyish layout :), instead of swirly blings and gentle flowers, I used accordion flowers, office paperclip, brads,  buttons and rub-ons. To get some grungy look, I splattered some dark nail polish, love the effect!

I also did some recycling here - the dotted "dp" are actully packages, of Hebrew alphas (the grey) and Prima 'say it in crystals' (the black). Another recycled item is the sub-title of the date, which was part of a cloth ticket.

The photo was taken about a month ago, on our summer vacation, at Israel Museum. It was very hot and to escape from the heat we went (again) to The Shrine of the Book, which is located bellow the ground, under the white Dome. Inorder to preserve the Scrolls, there are verye specific climate conditions are kept stirctly at the building, i.e. it's pretty cool over there :).

The clues I used:

Sketch - check;

Scheme - used all 5 colors;

Evidence - stripes and dots; packaging; labels; use a craft knife (to cut the stampped black lace); circles (accordion flowers, brads, nail polish dots); buttons.

Testimony - my journaling is handwriting (I do it almost always); I broke the journaling into 3, and two of the parts are on a note paper, while the 3rd was written directly on the background paper, which is in a notebook pattern.

Aside from the red background, all papers are patterned papers, so I'm entering this lo also for the patterned paper challenge at pile it on, and by using the nail polish, it also qualifies for the cosmetics challenge at Yotzot challenge blog.

דף חדש, מתפרע בעיצובו, שהכנתי לאתגר המשולב ב-CSI ו-OUAS. התמונה צולמה בהיכל הספר, לפני כחודש. כדי להימלט מהחום הלוהט ששרר בחוץ, חמקנו לנו פנימה לתוך היכל הספר, שם נשמרות המגילות הגנוזות בתנאי אקלים מאד קפדניים, ז"א מאד קריר שם :). למרות שכבר ביקרנו שם בעבר, היה נחמד לשוב ולהסתכל על הממצאים המרתקים שבתצוגה.

האתגר הרציני ביותר מבחינתי היה להתמודד עם סקיצה שהיא מאד 'נשית', עם אלמנטים מפונפנים במקצת, ולהמיר אותה לדף שהוא של 'בנים'. במקום פרחים מפונפנים ובלינגים מסולסלים, השתמשתי בראב-אונים, סרט זיגזג מעוגל, פרחי מניפה וכפתורים. להשגת המראה 'המטונף' (איך הייתן מתרגמות grungy?...), השפרצתי מבקבוק לק אדום כהה (אין לי שמץ של הסבר הגיוני מה הוא עושה אצלי. אני לא משתמשת בלק...), בהתאם לאתגר החדש שעלה ב'יוצאות מהקווים'. אתגר מעניין מאד, שמוציא מהקופסא ומאלץ לחשוב אחרת. בדיוק סוג האתגרים האהובים עלי ביותר.

יש הרבה מיחזור בדף הזה (מעבר לשימוש בלק :)))...) - הדפים המנוקדים הם למעשה אריזות - של אותיות 'תוצרת הארץ' (האפור) ושל בלינג של פרימה (השחור).

הכנת הדף הזה גם איפשרה לי לגאול מתהום הנשייה כמה ראב-אונים שהם בבחינת 'רחוק מן העין, רחוק מן הלב'.

חלק מהחומרים ששימשו אותי בעיצוב הדף הזה נלקחו מקיט החיקוי (הנוכחי וקודמיו). אני שוב חוזרת ואומרת, שההשתתפות בבלוג של קיט החיקוי, מהווה מנוף אדיר עבורי גם לשימוש בחומרים שישנם אצלי (ולשמחתי, גם כאלו שעולים מתהום הנשייה), וגם ל'יציאה מהקופסא' ויצירתיות ביצירת קישוטים ואלמנטים עיצוביים. אני ממש, אבל ממש, ממליצה לכן לנסות ולהצטרף. מה כבר יקרה? מקסימום תתמכרו, כמוני. :)

היה כיף להתפרע עם העיצוב בדף הזה, והוא זרם מאד בקלילות.

Getting messy - a lo

This is my take on this month's challenge at ScrapTheBoys, which was 'getting dirty'.

The photo is of my eldest boy, when he was almost 4 years old, playing with shaving foam. he used to love doing so at bath time.

I used masks with gesso and glimmer mist. lots of layers, tearing papers, star sequins, mixing alphas and two of my homemade kraft journaling spots.

דף מעוצב שהכנתי לאתגר באתר שכולו מוקדש לדפים על בנים בלבד. החודש הנושא היה "מתלכלכים". כמה מתאים לבנים, לא? :)

התמונה היא של הבכור, כשהיה כמעט בן 4, משחק עם קצף גילוח באמבטיה. זה היה אחד הדברים האהובים עליו במשחקי האמבטיה.

השתמשתי בשבלונות עם ג'סו וגלימר מיסט, הרבה שכבות, מיחזור אריזה של אותיות 'תוצרת הארץ', קריעת ניירות, פייאטים של כוכבים, ערבוב של אותיות תוך אילתור בשימוש בהן ושתי תגיות ג'ורנלינג של קראפט שהכנתי בעצמי.
