Life is more than Black & White - WW1 August challenge

August challenge at White With 1 was to use white cs with liquorice. very challenging indeed.

My lo was inspired by the fab tutorial by Riikka Kovasin at Pop&Colours #3.

I used papers from Echo Park and Pink Paislee. The flair buttons are from StudioFourteen40 and the circle frame chipboard is from Creative Embellishments.

As a contrast to the white and black, I used a very colorful photo, that was taken at Stravinsky Fountain in Paris. by using this photo, I could emphasize the message of the title.

At this hard days of war (well, it has been a couple of days with cease fire, and I do hope it will continue!), I feel that this message is so true. there's no absolute true. life is really much more than just black and white....

I worked on the chipboard frame with gesso, distress ink, UTEE, Perfect Pearls and fine embossing powder.

Chipboards are from Creative Embellishments and FabScraps, and I used many different mediums on them - gesso, distress stain, embossing powder, perfect pearls. For the background I use scraps of pp, gesso, modeling paste, building tape, stencilmists, stamps and oil pastels

Mixed Media Chipboard Tutorial

Hello everyone! today I want to share with you how I did this mixed media chipboard:

I run a piece of chipboard through my Big Shot with Sizzix TH Weathered Clock die.

 2 coatss of gesso

 painted with acrylic paint

(splendid gold)

 second coat with acrylic paint

 distressing with TH distress ink

(vintage photo)

 heat embossing with embossing powder

(Stampendous Carousel set - honey)

 after embossing

 embossing with Ranger TH distress

embossing powder ( antique linen)

this time, partly covering,

 with touches here and there)

 look at the fab texture it got!

 a few touches, here and there,

with Perfect Pearls

 using Mod Podge, adhering

glitter powder here and there

 gotta love the shiny grungy look!

In a day or two I'll show you how I used this weathered shiny clock on a layout.

Patience

My take on case file #88 at CSI, plus sketch #98 at Sketchabilities and Sept challenge at Inkido (layers plus border punch/die).  

The photo is of my youngest, about 1.5 year ago, sitting and waiting for all of us to continue with our trip. He was not so please about how much time it takes for us to start moving again. actually he was impatient... LOL Well, patience is a lesson yet to be learned.

My clues to solve the case were:

Scheme - I used all 5 colors.

Evidence - floral pattern, clocks, using a pen, frames.

Testimony - I used bullet point for my journaling, which states 4 ways to gain some patience: take a deep breath, count to 10, belive you don't miss anything, think about something else. I might say it's a lesson I learned myself through life. I guess the apple did  not fall far from the tree... LOL on the side of the page, I also documented a little conversation we had lately: "I told you to be less jumpy, you smiled to me and said: 'But Mummy, it's my personality'. So true and so wise. September 2013.".

For my borders I used two EK border punches, MS border punch and CheeryLynn's border die. my page is a multi-layers one. I really loved this sketch. I think I've done at least two layout in the past with similar design.

The clock die cut was embossed with distress crackle embossing powder, and then I added touches of Perfect Pearl, which gave a shiny look to the clock.

דף ל-3 אתגרים: סקיצה, השראה ואלמנטים. הסקיצה הזאת היא בעיצוב שהוא אחד האהובים עלי ביותר. נדמה לי שעשיתי כבר לפחות 2 דפים בעבר בעיצוב מאד דומה.

התמונה היא של צעיר הבנים, עומד חסר סבלנות ומחכה לנו שנואיל ברוב טובנו לשוב ולצעוד במסלול בטיול. כתבתי כמה עצות כדי לעזור במציאת הסבלנות החמקמקה (מכירים את השיר: "סבלנות, סבלנות, לא קונים באף חנות"?).

לבורדרים בדף השתמשתי ב-3 בורדר פאנצ'ים ובתבנית חיתוך אחת. בנוסף, השתמשתי בתבנית חיתוך לשעון.  שעון עץ של פרימ והרבה פרחים, גם כן של פרימה, שערמתי זה על גבי זה והוספתי 'אבקנים' במרכזם. כמה נגיעות של סיבי תחבושת ובראדים בתגית להשלמת הקישוטים.

My 7th lo with my Feb Counterfeit Kit, using Feb sketch from Artful Delight. Here's the sketch:

The photo is of my boys, wearing  their costumes, 3 years ago.

I've kept it very true to the sketch. 

As for the chipboards (banner & gears), I used black acrylic paint, black and clear UTEE, and Perfect Perals. I love the way they turned out.

באווירת פורים, הנה דף עם הילדודס בתחפושות, בפורים שלפני 3 שנים. זהו הדף השביעי שלי מקיט החיקוי של חודש פברואר. הייתה לי תמונה גדולה, כך שהסקיצה הפשוטה התאימה מאד.

כקישוטים השתמשתי בצ'יפבורדים (שרשרת דגלונים וגלגלי שיניים), עליהם עבדתי עם צבע אקרילי שחור, UTEE שחור ושקוף ופרפקט פרלס. אני מאד אוהבת את התוצאה שיצאה עם הצ'יפבורדים.

The Magic Of Love

My take on the challenge at Once Upon A... Sketch (I turned the sketch to the side, cause I really love the vertical way of this sketch):

The hidden journaling, on the tag behind the layers on the right side, says: "love is a magic. you can't really explain it, but you sure can understand it. I Love you forever. Mom.".

Most of the materials I used here are from my Feb Counterfeit Kit, and this is my 2nd lo with this kit.

I made the chipboard frame usuing acrylic paint, embossing ink, UTEE, Perfect Pearls and Unity script stamp. Here are some close-ups:

I love the contrast between the grungy/metal look of the frame and the soft/vintage look of the doilies and lace.

I added some felt flowers and topped them with pearls and did some masking on the circle. I used lots of Cheery Lynn dies here - French Pastry Doily, English Tea Party Doily, Fanciful Flourish and Francesca border. I just love their dies!

Patterned papers are Kaisercraft, Simple Stories and some scraps of Ruby-Rock-it.
This lo also goes for the 'passion' challenge at another freaking scrappy challenge, as my kids are my biggest passion :), and for the Love theme challenge at Tando.

דף שני מקיט החיקוי שלי לחודש פברואר, הפעם בסגנון יותר וינטאג'י. מסגרת הצ'יפבורד עברה טיפול מסיבי בטכניקה שלמדתי אצל ענת, Mrs. G, המשלבת צבע אקרילי, דיו אמבוסינג, UTEE שקוף, החתמות ו-Perfect Pearls. אני מאד אוהבת את הקונטרסט שנוצר בין המראה המטלי המשופשף של המסגרת למראה העדין והרך של הפרחים  מלבד והתחרה.

השתמשתי כאן בהרבה תבניות חיתוך, שאת כולן אפשר למצוא בחנות של ענת, איקס מיקס.

מחר אעלה דף נוסף, לאתגר השני בבלוג של קיט החיקוי, אלא שהפעם הסגנון יהיה שונה לגמרי, אם כי עדיין אותם צבעים שולטים. אתן מוזמנות לבוא גם מחר.

Always be brothers and best friends

Parents have lots of wishes for their kids. I think there's not enough room on a scrapbook page to list all of them :). When I'm gone, my boys will still have one another, so one of my biggest wishes for them is that they'll always be brothers and best friends.

The photo was taken when my youngest was only 2 months old. Look how my eldest holds him so tenederly :).

I used sketch # 12 from ScrapAfrica:

Apart from the clock and heart chipboards, all products on this lo are of My Mind's Eye. I mixed and matched some collections - Indie Chic Nutmeg with Lost & Found 3 Oliver. I used CheeryLynn deisns dies for the lace border, flourishes and doilies. I fussy cut the big circle flowers and placed them on the die-cut doilies, with MME brad in the middle.

The clock face chipboard was painted with gesso, and then with distress crackle paint. For the heart chipboard, I used acrylic paint, black UTEE and Perfect Pearls. The chipboard was heat embossed and then I stamped it. I just love how this chipboard turned out.

This lo goes also for the challenge at Frosted Designs, which asked for 5 gold/yellow items. I have 4 yeallow brads and gold glitter on the background patterned paper (there are also 2 items that can count - the face clock chipboard that was coverd with the crackle distress ink and the words stikcers for the title).

נדמה לי כי לכל הורה יש רשימה אינסופית של משאלות עבור ילדיו. דף מעוצב לא יכול להכיל את כולן, אפילו לא את מקצתן. בדף הזה התמקדתי במשאלה הנוגעת ליחסים שבין הילדים שלי. הרבה אחרי שאני כבר לא אהיה, מה שיהיה להם זה אחד את השני (או לפחות זו תקוותי), אז אחד האיחולים הגדולים והחשובים ביותר שלי עבורם הוא שהם תמיד יהיו אחים וחברים הכי טובים.

מלבד הצ'יפבורדים (עוד נדבר עליהם...), כל החומרים בדף הזה הם של My Mind's Eye. ערבבתי בין קולקציות - Indie chic Nutmeg, שהיא קולקציה שכיכבה בקיץ, לבין קולקציה יחסית חדשה יותר - Lost & Found3 Oliver, שדפים וקישוטים שלה רכשתי לאחרונה ב-Xmix. 

כל החיתוכים בדף הזה הם תוצרים של הביג שוט - הדוילי'ס, הענפים המסולסלים והצ'יפבורדים. הצ'יפבורד של השעון נצבע בג'סו ואח"כ בצבע דיסטרס קראקל. הצ'יפבורד של הלב הוכן בסדנא המופלאה של Mrs. G, עם מדיומים שונים וטכניקות של מיקסד מדיה. אני  מאד אוהבת את הקונטרסט שנוצר בין המראה המחוספס משהו של הצ'יפבורד הזה, לבין המראה המרוכך והעדין של הדפים המדוגמים והקישוטים.

קישוט נוסף שבו השתמשתי הוא הסיכות המתפצלות, גם הן של My Mind's Eye. יש כאן 8 סיכות מתפצלות (שתיים במרכזי הפרחים הגדולים ועוד 6 בפיצול בין הצ'יפבורדים), אז זוהי השמיניה הסודית שלי בשביל האתגר המיוחד לחנוכה ב"יוצאות מהקווים".
