Back to School with Harry Potter - for CSI case file no. 261

A new case file at CSI, case file no. 261, with soft colors and a wonderful theme.
I decided to work with a photo of mine, taken about 3 years ago, at King's Cross station in London, going back to school with Harry Potter, through the wall at Platform 9 3/4.
To solve the case, I went 'old school' and used all 5 colors. The clues I've used were: diagonal stripes, animal (Hedwig in the photo and the fussy cut butterflies), leaves, clock, filmstrip, ruler & numbers (modeling paste over TH stencil), stamps, ink. I also took the glasses from the inspiration photo.
My inspiration word was 'Lesson', and so my journaling is about what I feel is one of life's best lessons: "Forget the mistake, remember the lesson".
Most of the papers I've used are from Altair Art, with some scraps of My Mind's Eye and Kaisercraft.
The chipboards (leaves, filmstrip, title) are all from Creative Embellishments and I used inks, distress inks, Lindy's sprays and embossing powders to alter them.
The roman clock in the background (a TH Bigzz), was also colored with Lindy's sprays, to get the exact shade I wanted.
Here're some close-ups on the details:
First I primed the pp with clear gesso. Then I stamped here and there with a TH brick stamp to match with brick wall in the photo.
Next step was to use some modeling paste over a TH ruller stencil.
I covered the filmstrip chipboard with white gesso, and then colored it with Lindy's spray, and when dried, worked with TH distress ink.

As for the branches chipboards, I covered them with white gesso, and then heat embossed it with Lindy's embossing powder.

The clock die cut was colored with Lindy's sprays.

I splattered here and there with Lindy's spry

The title: I mixed and match the letters - took the lower case letteres and adhered them to each other and to the  script word.Coloring the title was a multi-stage procedure - first I covered it with Ranger's archival ink, then I heat embossed it with Lindy's ep (Orange Creamsicle), and once again touches with the red archival ink.
The sentiments are from Craft'Oclock 6x6 paper pad (Ladies & Gentelmen collection, from Scrap and Craft store).

The final touch was splattering some diluted white gesso and some Lindy's spray. As always, I just love the multi-layers look, with lots of mixed media techniques.
I would like to enter it the challenge at Scrapki-wyzwniowo - Back to School:

Libeeti, this is a beautiful. layout!!! It brings back a cherished teaching memory of mine. In one of my second grade classes was a precious little Jewish boy. He was an avid reader and an excellent all-round student. In math class I asked the boy a question, thinking he would know the answer. He looked up, not knowing the mathematical answer. I walked over to his desk to see what one of my favorite students was so intrigued with that caused him to not know the answer. His math book was open to the right page on his desk, but the 500-some odd page Harry Potter book lay in his lap!!!! Too funny!!!
