Small Gifts

Sharing my take on Aug challenge at Once Upon A...Sketch, with this beautiful sketch and awesome theme to journal about the men in our lives:
The photo is of my darling boys, and the title says, in Hebrew: Small Gifts. it's the title of very beautiful Israeli song, and I used the lyrics for my journaling. In free translation it says: "Small gifts, someone sent me small gifts, shards of light, circles of faith; Small gifts, someone sent me small gifts, like the strength to accept what we don't have, what we have. what else can I ask for."
I also goes for the chevrons challenge at Frosted Designs.
I used my Aug Counterfeit Kit, with StudioFourteen40 flairs, Petaloo flowers, and Lindy's Stamp Gang starburst and magical. I also used Cheery Lynn Design doily die.
Here are some close-ups on the details:

Love - case file no. 135 at CSI

This week's case file at CSI, case file 135, is so bright and cheerful:
And this is my take on it:
The photo is of my youngest, and it was taken when he was about 8 months old. I really love this photo, he's so sweet and cute and adorable, and in this lo I documented these feelings on the back of the layout.
My clues to solve the case were:
Scheme - all colors are here, including the pink on a boy's lo... LOL.
Evidence - polka dots, triangles, arrows, birds, doily.
Testimony - my hidden journaling, on the back of the page, says: "You're so cute and looking at you makes my heart sing. you're such a huggable boy and though you didn't like hugs when you were a baby, you grew to a boy who loves to hug and to be hugged. You're still as sweet and cute as you were when this photo was taken, back at 2005. Love you, my huggable boy. Mom 2014".

My Son, My love

It's Aug 15th, so it means a new sketch at Stuck?!:
And this is my take on Laura's lovely sketch:
I didn't want to make a multi-photos layout, so I used papers for the rectangles and placed my photo on top of them.
. Here are some close-ups on the details:

Before you leave, heads up! Stuck?! will have Anniversary Celebration on Sept 1st, with more prizes and chances to win. you don't want to miss it, so mark your calendars...
Thank you for visiting my blog and your comments are much appreciated!

Bon Voyage - Scrap Africa Aug 15th reveal

Our current theme at Scrap Africa is Travel Adventures, whether outside traveling, or inside your heart and soal.
I made a travel notebook for a young lady, for her first travel abroad. Inside the notebook, I wrote some personal greetings and included some sentiments from 'Oh, The Places You'll Go!' by Dr. Seuss.
I used paper and stickers from Carta Bella 'Rough&Thumble' collection.

Smiles - case file no. 134 @ CSI

We have a beautiful summery palette at CSI, along with a fab sketch by talented Em Stafrace.
I used my Aug Counterfeit Kit for this lo:
Edit: one of the Top 3 at Frosted Designs!

AND one of the Fabulous Five
For August at Counterfeit Kit Challenge

The clues I used to solve this case file were:
Scheme - all colors are here.
Sketch - checked.
Evidence - sun, ribbons, metal, circles.
Testimony - IW smile. hidden journaling on a tag - on one side I wrote some of the lines from an Israeli song named "Smiles", and it says, in free translation: "If the sun rises and it's a new one every morning; if the flowers just smile to the world; if there's a laughter rolling to the sky - so why don't we laugh with everyone else? You should learn from the flowers, not to be miserly with smiles, and the world, you'll see' will be suddenly so good; You should dream and hope, try just once; You should laugh, should live, should love". on the other side of the tag I wrote: "In these hard times of a war in Gaza, going on for almost 4 weeks, I want to remind myself how good it is to laugh, to love, to live. Your smiles, on a joyful  day in Eilat, warm my heart and encouriging me at this unpleasent period".
Here's the song (based on a French song):
I used papers from EP and MMe; die-cuts are from Fancy Pants, along with a circular chipboard; sun wood vener is MR, and so is the paper clip; buttons are from MME; the flair and the vellum tab and dot are from StudioFourteen40. I also used some modeling paste, Portfolio oil pastels and some Ayeeda's mist.
I would like to enter it also for the following challenges:
August challenge at Creative Embellishments, with this inspiration photo:
(I was inspired by the orange/yellow colors and by the wavy design of the inspiration photo, which reminded me rolling laughter, plus my title is the name of the song).
Stamps, masks and paper clip - Frosted Designs.

Life is more than Black & White - WW1 August challenge

August challenge at White With 1 was to use white cs with liquorice. very challenging indeed.
My lo was inspired by the fab tutorial by Riikka Kovasin at Pop&Colours #3.
I used papers from Echo Park and Pink Paislee. The flair buttons are from StudioFourteen40 and the circle frame chipboard is from Creative Embellishments.
As a contrast to the white and black, I used a very colorful photo, that was taken at Stravinsky Fountain in Paris. by using this photo, I could emphasize the message of the title.
At this hard days of war (well, it has been a couple of days with cease fire, and I do hope it will continue!), I feel that this message is so true. there's no absolute true. life is really much more than just black and white....
I worked on the chipboard frame with gesso, distress ink, UTEE, Perfect Pearls and fine embossing powder.
Here are some close-ups on the mixed media background and on the altered chipboard:

I wish you peace - CKC Aug 2014

It has been a long time since I played with Counterfeit Kit Challenge, and I'm glad I could make it this month.
The kit inspiration for this month is July 2014 kits from Studio Calico - Penny Arcade:
I took my inspiration to build my kit mainly from the colors - redish/coral, kraft, warm yellow, teal, blue sky, with small touches of black and green. I love the earthly colors and the wood items.
I named my kit "I wish you peace", as a wishful thinking, as we're still under bombing alerts.
My mood is very depressed from the war going on here, with no ending and with so little hope for a better future :(.
I do hope I will be able to use my kit.
I wish myself, my family, my country and our neighbors - PEACE.
Here's my kit - papers:
And embellishments (lots of embellies, but I reserve the right to add more flowers, twine, flair buttons, die-cuts etc.):

I counterfeited some of the items of the inspiration kit - paper, vellum die-cuts, woodgrain cuts, stamp 'stickers':
I also decided to use up some scraps - papers and stickers:

Geological Phenomena - Stuck?! Aug 1st reveal

For Aug 1st, Stuck?! Sketches are partnering with LCOM with their color challenge.
Here's the sketch, drawn by the talented Laura Whitaker:
And this is the color palete from LCOM:
I used photos from our travel to the Ramon visitors center, which is dedicated both to the Ramon Crater and to the Israeli astronaut, the late Illan Ramon.
Ramon Crater (Machtesh Ramon) is one of the most beautiful places I know, and the visitor center gives some explanatins on how this geological phenomenon happened. The exhibition on Illan Ramon's life is both very interesting and heartfelt.
Here's my take on the sketch and the color palette:
