My beautiful Mom - lo for Frosted Designs Sketch Along Tuesday

Agin it's time for a new sketch challenge  at Sketch Along Tuesday Frosted Designs and this is my take on the awesome sketch designed by our talented Debbie. Here's the sketch:

I love this sketch! It can be easily used on a CAS version, and on a multi layers and lots of details version, just like I did it.
I twisted the sketch, so it'll fit the photo, which is of my beautiful mom on her wedding.
As a younk kid, I always thought that my mom is the most beautiful woman on earth (and also that she's very tall). I still think so :))...Hence the title, which is a line from an Israeli song, that says, in free translation: "My mom, who I believed to be the most beautiful woman".
I used Webster's Pages as the basis and K&Co. for the matting.
I used stickles (gold, red & green), lace, MS butterfly punch, crochet flower I made myself, pearl, ribbon and metal lock & key charms.
The letters are velvet stickers, an Isreali designed.

Here's a close-up:

The crochet flower, the ribbon and the charms:

And it goes for the following challenges:
vintage colors - gingersnap
layers and/or 3-D effects - lasting memories
flower power - delightful challenges
floral fantasy - day 274 @ 365 cards
"R" embellishments - creative belli (mine re the ribbon roses, red frame)
old & new goodies - Julie's challenge - do more with less (old- the ribbon roses, new - the Webster's Pages dp, the red frame)
photo inspiration - cupcake inspiration (I took the colors)
bling it up - osaat

Now it's your turn to show us what you do with this wonderful sketch, and don't forget to hop over Frosted Designs on Dec. 3rd, with our first blog hop!

Thanks for visiting me!

Love Life - last card for vintage love week @ 365 cards

This is my take for the final challenge at 365 cards, the one that ends the Vintage Love week. The challenge, a recipe one,  required to put on the card these 10 ingredients:
paper piecing - all around the dp, and around the sentiment.
stitching (real or faux) - all around the dp. Now, I'll let you guess is my stitching real of faux... (those of you who already know my work, knows I use them both, so give your best guess). Also the flower is sewed and so is the button on top - it counts also, isn't it?
button - gorgeous one, don't you think?
die cuts -the sentiment is a die cut from K&Co. (and so is the dp).
5 x 5 card - not my fav size, but I didn't cheat at all this week, so I've done this one exactly by the rules!
pins - two black, one white - on the flower.
stamp - the swirl heart (a Uninty stamp).
distressing - naturally... with knife and distress ink.
3-D sticker - the corners (this one is kind of scraplift of my dear blogy friend Rose Miller, she can't make a card without corners...).
lace - the flower (well, Pam didn't allow combining days or other challenge blogs, but she said nothing about combining ingredients within the recipe challenge... hahahahah... so this embellishment combining 4 ingredients)

That's it!

I'm so happy I could join the fun this week at 365 cards. Vingate is my no. 1 style and 365 cards is my no. 1 challenge blog - a perfect match!
So thank you very much, Pam and all the DT at 365 cards. It has been a great pleasure playing with you this week. I do have a feeling that as always I learned a few new things throughout the challenges, and I'm sure it'll improve my scrapping.

Pam did allow to combine each day with only one other blogs challenge, so I'm entering this card for the vintage hues, at gingersnap.

And what about my stitching? real of faux? please leave your guess at the comment section (right beside the pencil icon). I'd love to read your best guess...

Thank you for visiting me!

Some more Vintage cards for 365 Cards

I've done another two cards for the Vintage Love week @ 365 cards. It means I've done all 6 challenges through this week, and I only need to make the "big" one - the recipe challenge, where all 10 ingredients should be on the card (I'm working on it.. LOL).
Here are the two cards I've done.
The first one is for day 271 - vintage plus lace:

I went all the way with this lace business - not only I used a piece of lace, but I also used MS doily lace border punch for the diferent layers. I was also inspired by the colors of Graphic 45' designs.
For the sketch I used Laura's sketch from 2sketches4u:

And it also goes for vintage Christmas at CES

The 2nd card  is a very girly one. I've made it for day 267 - vintage plus a stickpin. Here it is:

And here's a close-up on the pins:

I took the sketch from Sketch Saturday and I rotated it:

also for:
bow - speedy the cats friends; gingerloft

I guess a sneak peak doesn't count for the challenges over 365 cards, but anyway here's one from my next lo to be revealed on next Tuesday for Sketch along Tuesday @ Frosted Designs:

Now that is vingage for sure... But, it will be revealed a day after the vintage week is over, so I just can't enter it to these challenges...
Please come over tomorrow, I just might finish my last vintage card...
And don't forget to pop over next Tuesday to see my new lo and on next Friday for the first blog hop at Frosted Designs (yes, there will be another new lo of mine. Yes, there will be prizes.. and fun).

Thanks for visiting me!

Crackled Chipboard Alphabets - A Tutorial for Sketches In Thyme

Today I want to share with you a little trick, how to make those crackled
chipboard alphabeths.

This a tutorial I've made for Sketches In Thyme (so if you've already read it over there, you don't really have to read it once again.. LOL).

A fair notice - it's gonna be very messy.

You'll need:

  1. Alphabet chipboards (mine were GCD's).
  2. Acrylic paints - in two contrasting colors. You'll need to decide which of the colors you wish to be on surface and which one will be the 'crackled' one, to reveal from underneath.
  3. Carpenters' wood glue (I used Elmer's).
  4. A brush.
Step one:

Paint your alphabets chipboards with the first color (the one to show out from the cracks). Let it dry completely.

Step 2:

Spread the carpenters' wood glue on the painted chipbords. Let it dry completely.

Step 3:

Paint the dried alphabets with the second color. Make sure you're painting on the same direction you spread the carpenters' wood glue, so the cracks will show better (I forgot, and that's why my blue alphabets aren't the best. but look at the cream ones, they're much better!). Did I already mention you need to let it dry completely? Well, please do so.... (yea, I forgot to write down "patience" in the ingredients list...).

Step 4:

Now you can see the cracks starting to appear! (I added some white acrylic paint, to give a cloudy look, but it's not necessary).
That's it!!

Here are the full layouts with the crackled alphabets:

So how about giving it a try? We'd love to see it, so if you do use this technique, please live us a comment with a link to your creation, so we'll be able to pop over and leave you some love!
Have a lovely weekend!

A Vintage Week @ 365 Cards - I

Vintage week @ 365 cards!!! What can be better than that? almost nothing.. So naturally I couldn't resist and I took a little break from making layouts and joined the fun making some vintage cards. So much inspiration at 365 cards!!! and a chance to win a very yummy prize.

The first card was made to the sketch Pam gave:

The image is from The Vintage Moth; dp 7 Gypsies; flower, doily, ribbon,  lace & button - all from my stash. I used distress ink the dp edges and on the doily.
Having snow on the image, this card goes also for simon says stamp;  and buttons & bows - meljensdesigns; fff

The 2nd card is for day 269 - vintage plus distressing (as if I can skip distressing anyway... LOL that's my no. 1 fav technique):

For this card I used the sketch from Sketches In Thyme (okay, I'm on the layout team, but I can still make a card or two, don't I?). Here's the sketch:

I distressed the edges of almost every cs & dp on this card and inked them with distress ink. The image is from The Graphics Fairy; cs - Canson; ribbons & flower - from my stash; bling - selfmade.

The 3rd card was made for day 270 - vintage plus dimensional sticker:

I did it also for CASE study #16.

Just incase you didn't see how much dimensinal is that sticker, here's a close-up:

And did you see that awesome button??? This peachy one was the last one on the store, so it was a shame to leave him all alone there... LOL I wish they had more of this color. Here's a close-up on the button:

And I do hope my friends, Rose Miller & Gloria Stengel, would say something about that bow... wink wink....
I know this card can also go for the distressing one, but Pam doesn't allow to combine days, this time, and I'm playing by the rules... (and I just wait for tomorrow, cause tomorrow's challenge is to combine all this week's requirements nto one card. Now that's a challenge I love!).
also for:
buttons & bows - fff; meljensdesigns

The 4th card is for day 268 - vintage plus a stamp:

For this card I used the sketch from CardPatterns:

I tried to make a male vintage card (I know, flower and lace aren't exactly boyish, but it was done for a new baby, so it's okay...). I love this baby stamp from Layers of Colors.
It was great to fill my cards box again, and I just might end up making a few more, so please come back tomorrow...

And two more things:
First is just a reminder that you've got 3 days to enter our fabulous sketch challenge over Frosted designs.
And second - don't forget to mark your calendar Dec. 3rd for our first blog hop at Frosted Designs!

Thank you for stopping by!

With Friends - lo

It's Thursday again and it means a new sketch challenge at Sketches In Thyme. This week it's an open challenge, where everybody get to choose whatever sketch they wish to work on.
I took November 15th sketch at Stuck?!. Here's the sketch:

I really liked the simplicity of this sketch, so the eye is drawn directly to the photo. The photo is of my kids with my BF's older kids, about 4.5 years ago (see how my youngest is still chubby? :)))...).
I did some handstitching to get all the parts together, and then some faux stitching around the matting and on the edges of the cs. A little doodling and that's it!
The cs is DCWV and all dp are K&Co., the curly die cuts I simply can't remember the manufacturer (maybe WeR Memory Keepers?), lace is from my stash. For the butterflies I used MS punch.

Here's a close-up on the butterflies, the doodling and the hand stitching:

Now it's your turn to play open sketch with us. Take any sketch you wish, make a lo and show us what sketch you choose, and don't forget to come over to Sketches In Thyme and link your lo. Mostly - have fun!!! (I surely did )

And I'm also entering this lo for the following challenges:
vintage colors - gingersnap
photo inspiration - crafty ann
die cuts - papertake weekly

And one more thing, don't forget we're having a fabulous blog hop at Frosted Design, starting Dec 3rd untill Dec 5th. It's gonna be fun fun fun, and you don't want to miss it!

Thanks for taking the time and visit me!

A mini album for a baby girl

This is a mini album I've made for a friend at work, who gave birth to a baby girl. It's a recycled project since the basis for all pages is from used cereal boxes. All dp are from a prize I won at From Screen2Scrap last month (thank you, Shazza!).
I left empty places for my freind to add the baby's photos and to add some journaling.
Here are the photos of the pages:

I'm entering this mini album to the following challenges:

die cuts - papertake weekly
circles - crazy 4 challenges;
R embellishments - belli (mine are: ribbons, rhineston)
not a card - die cut dreams
anythnig goes - for fun; a spoon full of sugar;

make sure to drop by tomorrow, cause I have my new DT's lo for Sketches In Thyme to show you. Here's a sneak peak:

And one last thing:
Mark your calendars for Dec. 3rd! We'll be having our first blog hop at Frosted Designs! There will be lots of fun, and even prizes and RAKs. You sure don't want to miss it!

Thanks for stopping by!

BFF - lo

It's Friday again!!!! and it means a new challenge at Frosted Designs. This week we ask you to distress your creations. I just love distressing! It's my no.1 favorite technique.
On this lo I used a lot of distressing - the edges of the pp, of the photo and of the dp underneath the photo (BG and K&Co.), the doilies, the butterflies.

I used the sketch from creative scrappers, this week's challenge at Sketches In Thyme (yep! I combined my two DT's jobs... LOL). Here's the sketch:

The flower was made of fabric and covered with green stickles, and was layered on a felt flower. The letters of the title are also felt.

The photo is of my BF and me. We're friends for over 20 years, ever since we met at the university. Our friendship is one of the best things in my life, which I'm very thankful for.

Now it's your turn to show us your distressing at Frosted Designs. Go and look at what the uber talented ladies over there made for this challenge. Awesome projects!
And while you're there, why not play with us with Diana's sketch? It's here here here! We'd love to see your take on it (not to mention the fabie prize you can win! but you have to play for the chance to win it...).

I'm entering this lo to the following challenges:
fuzzy - mami doodles
texture - critter sketch
open plus a butterfly - flutterby wednesday
old and new goodies - Julie's challenge (the basis dp and the doillies are oldie - I have them more than a year, since I started card making; the BG dp is a new goodie I just bought recently).
wings (plus BG's products) - basic grey (one of the dp is from Oliver line)
show us your style - fresh brewed (mine is surely distressing)
distressing - a spoon full of sugar
thankful/thank you - the sisterhood of crafters; the crazy challenge; for fun; scrap that poetry (the poem "A prayer for The Great Family" by Gary Snyder; ann's creative nook

Thank you for stopping by!
