Daddy's Little Girl - lo

This time my new lo is about me & my dad, and it's a very personal lo. On my forthcoming birthday, I will be at the exact age my father was when I was born. As I said in another post, my dad had passed 13 years ago. He died of cancer at the age of 76. Too young, I would say, too soon. When he was diagnosed, he used to say that he had lived a full life and that he regrets nothing. I would say that is a great way to sum one's life, isn't it?
Okay, enough with sadness and lets see what have I done with this lo....
The title on the lower part says in Hebrew: "Daddy's Little Girl", and on the chipboard (We R Memory Keepers)  I've written the year and place the photo was taken. It me (!) sitting on my daddy and I really don't know why am I looking so incontent... LOL We were sitting on the balcony at my grandpa & grandma's home.
And to the details and techniques I used in this lo:
I sewed the circle with whipped backstitch, first with a purple thread, and then with a lavender one. I think it gives a special & lovely frame to the photo. Then I tore an inner circle, as if to 'reveal' the photo, and I inked the torn edges. As matting I used a scrap of dp from K & co.
The journaling page is from a pad I saw at my mom's kitchen and grabbed a page or two...
I wrote: "I was born exactly a week before my dad's birthday. As a child, I always thought I was his special birthday's present. The times when I was born were quite rough, there was a recession. My dad wrote to me once, that when I was born, they had this hope in their hearts that a new day starts. A hope that found it's expression in the name my parents chose to give me."
The 'tree' was made of some part of BG's 'do me a favor' kit, I think the lemonade collection. The title is letters cuts from a shop called "practical fairy" (what a lovely name, isn't it?), and they're glitter purple.
The butterfly is a new Unity stamp that I just got as a prize from Stamping Sisters in Christ (thank you once again!).

I sprayed it with glimmer mist, and that is how I made the mask on the right lower corner.
The green dp is actually strips of  two different styles of leaves, and I used MS lace border punch on it and on the pink vellum underneath.
An organza pale green ribbon with large bow and on top of the bow - a digi flower from Fred She Said, with a pale pink button on it. Some pink shining pearls, some redish stickles on the tree, and that's it!

I'm entering this lo to the following challenges:
pastels - fss (with thier digi - the flower on the left corner); #60 the pink elephant; #41 the colour create;
distressing -; simon says
purple - #13 your  next stamp
chipboard - instyle stamps
repetition - basb (my repetition is circles - the sewed circle, the teared one, the pearls, the button)
I'm touched - day 27 365 cards (I know, it is not a card, but yet I wanted to share my new creation... the 8 elements are the flower on the left corner - made of several times stamped and cut, on top the button, and the bow and dp underneath)

bugs life (mine is the butterfly) - tuseday taggers (thier sponser is the craft barn)
color spray - #88 creative belli (I used glimmer mist)

button, bow & bling - #50 ohh-la-la

anything goes - #61 crafty creations

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to look at my lo! Have a lovely day.

A Spring Bouquet

This is the bouquet I've made for the family dinner tonight, for Passover. The flowers were made out of plain cs,. based on this tutorial. I added leaves cut in free hand, some tulle and swirls.
After all, Passover is known also as the "spring holiday", and this bouquet is very springy...

I'm entering this bouquet to the following challenges:

thanks for stopping by!

The Way They Were - Layout

This lo is about a young couple, my dear parents. The photo was taken a short period after they got married, and as my mom says: before she even conceived my eldest sister...
My dear Dad had passed 13 years ago and I miss him a lot. My kids know him only by stories and photos.
I think this particular photo is so so romantic. I love the way my dad looks at my mom, and the gentle touch between them. I printed the photos in sepia colors, and in 2 different sizes. I've put the small ones from both sides of the larger, each with only one of my parents, so it symbolizes the fact that a couple is made out of two individuals.

I love the chain of flowers and buttons around the photos, as if it embraces them. It also goes nicely with the frame made of doily and the circular title, that says in Hebrew: "that's how it all begun"

The chipboard in the lower part was inked on the edges with distress ink, the same one I used for all the distressing over the lo - tea dye. The sentiment is rub-ons and it states the place & date the photo was taken.

Take a look at these two lovely flowers: both are selfmade. The larger was made out of a lace ribbon, and the smaller was made out of leftover stripes of this lo's dp - not throwing anything...

Speaking of no throwing anything, the title chipboard was made out of used cereal box and the letters were inked with distress ink. Recycling, isn't it?...

Did you notice the cute little rose on the corner? it was made with mask technique. I love how it came out.

As for the challenges, I'm entering this lo to the following:
music inpiration - "just the two of us" - #127 scraping the music
new beginings  - #40 die cuts dreams (mine is the begining of my family)
masking - scrap & stamp
eyelet - #22 kraftin' kimmie stamp (on the tag in the right corner)
circles - #12 pixie cottage challenge
layout shopping list - buttons, b&w photos, circles, patterned papar background, large monogram - #12 craftastic
vintage - one stitch at a time; #12 lots to do
inspiration - #81 etsy inspired challenge - the colors of this pouch are so vintage look, just like the colors of my lo
inspirational coffee - SSHP24 (the colors of this lo are those of coffee, cream etc.)
favorite technique - #16 fab'n'funky (mine is distressing and self made emballisments
make your own flowers - #31 la-la land (not for the prize... just having fun with your challenge)
mom's the word - #15 pixie dust studio

Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to pop over tomorrow - I'll post my mini blog candy...

So Preety in Purple

The new challenge over Simple Doodles is one of my favorites - LAYERS. I love, love layers. And the sketch over midnight madness was just perfect for layers, and I was also inspired by the color and the look of this lovely blog!  So here it is, my DT's card for Simple Doodles. Come and join us with the fun!
If you count the riboons, there are 10 layers! for the triangle I used vellum and for the edges I used ms lace border punch, which was also used for the rectangle dps (only you can hardly see it underneath the swirl chipboard and the image).
The image is from the graphics fairy and I addes some purple effects in editing software. I also distressed the edges of the image so it looks old (and vintage). The main dp is sparkling (it does show well on the photo).  some lace ribbon, some lavender tulle to complete the vague look, and swirl chipboard I made myself from used cereal box and colored with acrilic paint.

I love the lower corner, with the pulm flower .
I addes some stickles, and I used the wire it was attached to and I strung two dark beads to it. Tiny lavender silk riboons roses, shining pearls and faux stitching all around - and that's it.

And I'm entering it also to the following challenges:
sketch - #37 papertake weekly (I turned the sketch)
vintage - one stitch at a time; lots to do
monocrhomatic - #18 quixotic
your choice of pastels - #41 the colour create
distressing - #12 your next stamp
lace - caardvarks
sparkly things - #36 pollycraft
let it shine - #72 one stop craft
bling - design dollies (asked for 3 different blings, I have here shimmering dp, shining pearls, stickles on the flower, beads)
transparency - frosted designs
going green (recycle) - #28 if the shoe fits (the chipboard made of used cereal box); #32 inky impressions

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to look at my card! I wish you a very lovely weekend!

Holiday's tags... and a RAK

We are celebrating Passover next week, and look what my talented sister made for the family dinner table! Each one will get a tag on his plate. She really surprised me with these lovely tags.

So I'm entering them for her to the following challenges of anything but a card: #30 creative inspirations and  #35 pals paper arts. Wouldn't it be cool if she wins? :)

And she surprised me with this riboons rak:

Now, isn't she the sweetest sisters of all?

Thank you, sis. I promise to use it asap... LOL

Thanks for stopping by! Wait to my second post today, with my DT's card for Simple Doodles...

Simple Doodles...

A flower pot - just for you

Edit: This lovely card won on #11 Magical crafts!

I've made this flower pot card to a freind, to make her smile with a spring blossom.
The pot was made out of K & Co. dp. Anderneath the flowers, the edge of the dp was cut with ms lace border punch The sentiment on the pot is a chipboard covered with the other side of the dp, and then sprayed with glimmer mist (it is hard to see on the photo, but the letters shine)
The sentiment on the tag is rub-on
I used different kinds of flowers - felt, plastic, self made. and so are the leaves - some are bought and some are self made.
I think this card gives a great spring feeling. what do you think?

I'm entering it to the following challenges:
flower pot card - project tuesday
ribbon & rub-on - the townscrapper (the tag - the sentiment is rub-on and the ribbon on top)

Thank you for stopping by and comment on my project.
Have a lovely day!

You dare me to lo - Spring Blossom

My sister encouraged me to start making lo. A dear friend from blogland, Tesa from Tesas Scrap promised to hold my hand and guide me, and her fab work , cards and lo, is a real inspiration for me. Also I learned a lot from an Israeli great scraper, The Crafty Fairy, who not only brings gorgeous works, but also explains her work in details, step by step.
So I just jumped into the deep water... and here it is.  Have a look, and be gentle with me, it's my first lo....
The photos are from a journey we took 2 years ago to a place called "Cyclamens Hill". It's a magical place, a hill filled with cyclamens all around.
I used the fab sketch Ann gave as a challenge. I trimmed one photo with lots of trees and cyclamens into two pieces (the right one and the left lower one), and also I trimmed a photo of us sitting on a path up on the hill, surrounded with all this blossom.
I did pink matting to all the photos. The contrast of the pink matting to the colors of the photos and the cs, made the photo pop up.
I cut the green dp so it will look like grass and adhered it on top of the two lower photos. and then i spread diamond glaze on the trimmed part of the dp and then put green glittered powder above, so it gets the shimmering look. also it gave a darker shade of green to the "grass".
you can see it here:
The title was made by me from baby pink foam and I added some red stickles on it. The title says: "Spring Blossom", even thoug the photos were taken on the end of February... well, here the end of February is the beginging of the spring...
I hand stitched all around with double thread (thanks to the crafty fairy, who showed it on her blog...), so it gives a lovely frame to the lo.
I did some faux stitching all around, in free doodling, and adhered small rhinestones in the circle doodling.
I'm not very pleased with the handwriting above the photo (it's writen the place and date of our journey), and there is a lot I should learn from it, but it's done...
I tried to follow the visual triangel rule I've learned about here, but I'm not sure I really succeede in doing so.

And I'm entering this lo to the following challenges:
sketch - #81 GCA
tearing - #32SSDS
green + butterfly - #101 flutter by wednesday
it's all new (sure for me making lo is new... LOL) - #15 fab'n'funky

Thanks so much for stopping by and taking the time to look at my first lo. I'd love to see your comments and learn from all of you.
Have a lovely weekend!

LOL

You can simply feel spring in the air, definitely spring. and my most loved flower is Lily, just in case you want to know what flowers to bring me next time... LOL I just love them in any color, but most of all - I love white lily.
Remember I posted this card?
I've made it for a friend of mine, who was on a course, away from home for several weeks (she did came every weekend, but still away from home all week, with 3 litlle kids - well, it was quite hard for all of them.
So she finally graduated that course! and I've made this card for her. I will bring her the card tomorrow or on Sunday, along with roses and chocolate box.

BUT! this card is also for me... I do deserve this greeting of CONGRATS!
Yesterday a huge project I've been working on for almost 3 years (!) has come to it happy end. Without many details, but I can tell you that I've won all the way, big time.
There are not enough words to tell you how thrilled I am. it has been a very long and hard way, but I knew all the time that I'm on the right way.
So I really do deserve this congrats....

As always, it goes for several challenges:
another one for show a little green - #13 simple doodles
twinchies - day 17 365 cards
distressed something - stamp something; #12 YNS

anything goes - #74 secret crafter
it's all new - #15 fub'n'funky (the pink dp is from a new K&Co pad I just bought).

Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to look at my card.
Have a lovely peaceful weekend.

(Don't forget that my mini candy is just around the corner....)

Just to say Hello

In this card I took some used office sheet for the basis cs and a piece of a package of something I bought long time ago for the matting of the image - that's my recycling.
The map pp is an old London map from the graphics fairy, and I distressed the edges with baby wipe and then crumpled it. after that I inked it with distress ink.
The bashful blue pp are BG Lilikate, also distressed with ink on the edges,  and the image is from digital delights, that I stamped twice and then cut the mouse and colored it with water color pencils and addhered it on the second stamp with some dimensionals. the sentiment is a rub-on and the ribbon is from my stash, and I frayed the edges deliberately to go along with the distressed look of the card (No, Pam, I'm not posting this card to the "I'm a frayed knot" challenge, though I did got the idea from this challenge over 365 cards - last year - thanks, Pam, for the inspiration)
The inspirtaion for the theme was from cinema saturday - those tallented women brought "Dear Frankie" as an inspiration. I used colors from the photo they put on the challenge. As for the theme of writing letters (the kid in the movie writes letters to "his dad", which is actually his mom)  I used a dp with an image of postcards beneath the image and the image itself (envelope Pippin).
And no lace or flowers....

and I'm entering this card to the following challenges:
movie inspiration - #70 cinema saturday (also asked to use a map. I did with the dp)
another one for photo inspiration - #15 basic grey
inspiration - #79 etsyinspired  mine is the papillon bleu (I must say that there are fab jewelery!)
one color + a neutral - #9 pile it on
monochromatic - stampin' for the weekend
lots of layers - #10 memory lane (there are 9 layers in this card)
distressing - #35 pollycraft
spot & dots - #71 one stop craft
another one for no flowers - #38 die cuts r us

Thanks for stopping by!

A Blue-Green Happy Birthday

It has been a very busy week for me. My dear sister's big birthday (did you see what I've made for her? I just love it!) and then I had my son's birthday (it's the same day....). yesterday we had his party with his friends from school, and I'm so exhausted, but he enjoyed so much! he got a lot of presents, and all evening he and his little brother opened them and played with the new games. it was really touching to see their joy and how they played together.
I've made this card for one of our family's friends, to give him on his coming B-day. Since it was
made for a boy- no flowers, no lace, no sparkle or glitter... LOL. but is sure fitts the spring  - we are having such a warm wheather here!
This card is my DT card for simple doodles - a new challenge starting: show a little green, and I hope to see you all there. note that you can use any digi stamp, but if you have a simple doodles' one - we would love to see them (you also have some lovely freebie there)!
The image is a from simple doodles and it is perfect for paper piecing (no, Trish, I did not mix the challenges, I do know that the paper piecing challenge is closed now... LOL).
For the background I tore dp, since that is what Pam asked over 365 cards (Gloria & Rose - see what a gooooooood girl I am? no cheating... halo, halo, where is my halo?...LOL)
The card has a naive look and I like the outcome. what about you?
